David Jayne is a Professor at the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom. He has had a special interest in vasculitis for 40 years and helped start European collaboration in vasculitis research which led to the European Vasculitis Society. Along with colleagues in Cambridge, David works in the Vasculitis and Lupus service at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge that cares for over 2000 patients with these disorders and receives referrals from all over the UK. His research has focused on ANCA blood testing and clinical trials, including the development of rituximab and avacopan for vasculitis. His education was based in Cambridge and London, but he has also worked at Harvard Medical School and the University of Chiba, Japan. He has published over 600 peer reviewed papers and was awarded the European Renal Association prize for outstanding contributions to nephrology in 2021. He was elected to the Académie Nationale de Médicine de France in 2025.
